Getting Started
Sign in, create your site, and get oriented.
Getting Started covers your first session with Enine Sites: signing in with a magic link, and what to do with the placeholder site that is created for you.
Sign-in, passwords, and custom domains.
Account and Domains covers how you sign in, how to add a password, and how to put your site on your own domain.
Publish your Enine site on a domain you own.
Every Enine site starts on a free Enine subdomain, and you can bring your own domain.
- If you already own a domain, enter it in the Domain field when you create your site at eninesites.dev/get-started. The field is optional; leave it blank to start on a subdomain.
- Your free subdomain looks like yourname.e9sites.com. You can see it, and generate a new one with the shuffle control, in Sites > Configure under Subdomain.
- To attach a domain to an existing site, email hello@e9sites.com and we will set it up with you.
Add a password to your account after magic-link sign-in.
Enine Sites signs you in with a magic link by default, and you can add a password whenever you prefer one.
- Sign in with your magic link.
- Open the Account menu at the top right.
- Choose Set Password (or Change Password if you already have one).
- Set a password for future logins.
With a password set, you can sign in either way: password or magic link.
When something looks wrong, start here.
Troubleshooting covers the most common issues: sign-in emails that don't arrive, changes that don't show up, images that render wrong, and audit findings.
What to do when the magic link doesn't show up.
The sign-in email usually arrives within a minute or two. If it hasn't:
- Check your spam or junk folder.
- Confirm the email address you entered is correct.
- Request a fresh link from the sign-in page. Links are single-use, so always use the newest email.
- If you set a password earlier, you can sign in with it instead.
Still nothing? Email hello@eninesites.com and a person will sort it out.
Saved but not seeing it? Check these in order.
If an edit isn't showing on your site, work through these in order:
- Check the save rule. Inline edits (title, tagline, icons, images) save automatically. Edits made in the Content Manager need the Save button -- if you left the page to edit, you need to Save.
- Check Edit Mode vs Preview. Edit Mode shows editing scaffolding; click Preview (the eye icon) to see the site as visitors do.
- Check the Published box. Unpublished items are hidden from visitors even though they look fine in the manager.
- Check Featured. The homepage shows only featured items; the category page shows everything published.
- Hard-refresh your browser (Cmd+Shift+R or Ctrl+Shift+R) to rule out a cached copy.
Crops and sizes are decided per template. Here's how to work with that.
Each template defines its own crop and aspect ratio per device, so the same image can render differently in a hero slot and a card thumbnail.
- If an image looks cropped oddly: it is being fitted to the slot's aspect ratio. Try an image closer to the slot's natural shape -- 16:9 landscape for heroes, square-ish for cards.
- If an image looks blurry: the upload may be smaller than the slot. Upload a larger file.
- If a logo has a background box: use a transparent PNG.
- If the wrong image shows: click the image in Edit Mode and select the right file from the Media Library.
Media Library uploads are reused everywhere, so fixing the file once fixes it everywhere it is used.
What the red and orange numbers mean, and how to clear them.
Audit findings come in two levels: red numbers are errors and orange numbers are warnings, listed per URL in the SEO and AEO sidebars.
Common findings and their fixes:
- Missing short content: the item emits no structured data. Write a one-sentence summary in the Short Content field.
- Missing page description: write one in Sites > SEO (100 to 160 characters).
- Page title too long: keep titles under 60 characters in Sites > SEO.
- Unpublished or non-routable items: excluded from the audit surface and flagged in the sidebar; publish them if they should be live.
After fixing a field, use Save & audit to confirm the finding clears without navigating away.
